On behalf of City Council, the City of Warrensburg will host a Convention and Visitors Bureau Panel Discussion on January 30, 2014, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Municipal Center, 200 S. Holden St.
The public is encouraged to attend and participate in the panel discussion.
On November 11, 2013, City Council adopted an ordinance for the creation of a Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). Moving forward, this non-profit organization will build upon the foundation already in place to further promote and expand local tourism, sporting events, conventions, and visitors. In an effort to create the best possible CVB to bring new tourism dollars and investment to Warrensburg, a panel of seasoned CVB directors and presidents has been invited and assembled to offer their thoughts, opinions, and “sage” advice.
The selected panelists represent a cross section of small to large communities with expertise ranging from sports tourism, event planning, and tour group scheduling to convention sales and recruitment. They will share “lessons learned” as well as “start up” advice for developing a CVB and marketing materials from their respective cities.
The CVB Panel includes the following:
- Kansas City, MO CVB – Jon Stephens, President & CEO
- Old Trails Region, MO CVB – Marsha Corbin, Executive Director
- Springfield, MO CVB – Tracy Kimberlin, President & CEO
- St Joseph, MO CVB – Marci Bennett, Executive Director
- Hannibal, MO CVB – Gail Bryant, Director
- Louisville, KY CVB – Jim Wood, President & CEO
- Lawrence, KS CVB – Fred Conboy, President & CEO
There will be a reception with light refreshments in the Municipal Center following the panel discussion. Everyone is welcome to stay and visit with the panelists.
Shared information obtained from these experienced panelists and others attending the discussion will assist the Warrensburg CVB in establishing the mission, vision and strategic goals.
