The City of Warrensburg is accepting applications for a full-time Building Inspector. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, an Associates Degree in codes administration, construction science, safety, architecture or related field or a vocational certificate in mechanical, electrical or plumbing systems is preferred. A combination of construction-related or building code experience and formal education will be considered.
Responsible for concrete, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and other inspections for all new and existing residential, commercial and industrial buildings under construction. Identifies code and ordinance violations, maintains records and makes reports regarding building permits and dangerous buildings. Demonstrates a commitment to best practices and problem-solving in a team-oriented environment.
The position requires excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate both in writing and verbally with contractors, engineers, architects, developers, and residents. Applicants will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug / alcohol screening and full background investigation.
