As part of the continuing effort to provide health care closer to veterans, Department of Veterans Affairs has announced plans to build a new Community- Based Outpatient Clinic in Warrensburg.
Veterans residing in Warrensburg and surrounding areas will enjoy greater access to VA health care services they have earned through their service to our country. With approximately 10,000 square feet, the new clinic is slated to provide primary care and additional services to an estimated 10,000 to 15,000 veterans a year and provide new, high paying professional jobs.
“The City became aware of the potential Request for Proposal process well over a year ago,” said Paula Hertwig Hopkins, City Manager. “We monitored the process to provide support and assistance to the Department of Veterans Affairs as well as realtors and developers submitting proposals.”
“Since early spring when the request for proposals was issued, it became my mission to ensure the Community-Based Outpatient Clinic be awarded in Warrensburg.” said Nancy Kenepp, Broker/Owner of Reece and Nichols Warrensburg/Whiteman Realty. “The first priority was to determine the best location for veterans to have better access to VA health care.”
Kenepp partnered with Highlands Development to submit a proposal to the Department of Veterans Affairs. The project has been awarded to Highlands Development to develop and build the new clinic.

We look forward to helping the VA expand the capacity and services that are extended to our veterans,” said Chris Williams.
The site of the new clinic will be released pending finalization of a development agreement between the City and the developer. Per the financial incentive policy adopted by City Council earlier this year, Williams has applied for a local Cost Share Development Agreement for traffic signal improvements related to the clinic in the amount of $55,000. Construction is expected to begin on the project in mid to late November this year with the clinic opening mid-2014.
