The National Weather Service in Kansas City/Pleasant Hill has issued a Winter Storm Watch for snow in effect for Tuesday, February 4th. The current forecast includes a snow accumulation of 3-7 inches possible throughout the day with a possible 1-2 inches more after midnight for February 5th.
In anticipation of these bad weather conditions, per ordinance Sec. 23-332, the City Manager is declaring that Phase I of the Emergency Snow Ordinance will go into effect at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning, February 4th.
Vehicles on Emergency Snow Routes must be removed during this “Snow Emergency” or they will be towed at the owner’s expense.
In accordance with ordinance Sec. 23-338 adopted in October 2013, “Cul-de-sacs on all streets are included in the Phase I route designation under this division.” The absence of cars in cul-de-sacs allows plow trucks the required turning radius to maneuver in the available space for effective snow removal.
Phase I includes the following streets:
Gay Street, Water to Ridgeview
South Street, Main to Maguire
Grover Street, Holden to Mitchell
Clark Street, Holden to Mitchell
Houx Street, Washington to Holden
Washington, Business 50 to Houx
Warren, Business 50 to Hunt
Holden, Cleveland to Gay
Holden, Grover to Hale Lake Road
College, Business 50 to South
Mitchell Street, Gay to DD Highway
Burkarth Road, Gay to Business 50
Ridgeview, Gay to Montserrat
Clark Street, Main Street to Springridge Road
Springridge Road, Clark Street to one-tenth (1/10) mile north to Timberline Drive
Warren Street, Young Street to Russell Avenue
Russell Avenue, Warren Street to Maguire
Ridgeview Drive, Corporate Drive to railroad tracks
Additionally, all other residents are strongly advised to remove their vehicles from all City streets to help expedite snow removal efforts.
In the interest of public safety, please shovel sidewalks for store patrons, residents who must walk rather than drive and individuals with motorized mobility devices. Walking on icy and snowy streets poses a great danger to pedestrians as well as drivers.
The City of Warrensburg appreciates your cooperation and encourages everyone to be safe.
